Job description

TU/e innovation Space
TU/e innovation Space, located on the Eindhoven university campus at the heart of the high-tech Brainport region, is a new initiative of the Eindhoven University of Technology that aims to connect inventive, entrepreneurial and highly motivated students across all disciplines on campus in challenging projects. In multidisciplinary teams, students develop innovative science-based solutions to real-world challenges – in collaboration with scientific staff, businesses and other organizations around. The multidisciplinary engineering projects carried out in innovation Space are a significant part of the educational innovation strategy of the TU/e.

Building on the strong collaboration that TU/e has with industry, innovation Space helps in developing an educational eco-system to deliver the best engineers for this industry, the “Engineers for the Future”. These engineers for the future will have to collaborate more and more with people from different disciplines if they are to create innovations that address the great challenges facing society in the field of health, energy and mobility. In this way TU/e innovation Space strives to contribute to engineers that are better equipped to the demands on the job market. And serving as a visible and inspiring showcase, it would motivate current students to join, and also attract new students to TU/e.

TU/e innovation Space has three commitments. First, it should inspire staff and students and attract prospective students, by organizing events, lectures and workshops. Second, it should support students in multidisciplinary engineering projects in creating prototypes together with staff and companies. Third, it should support the realization of these prototypes into products and services for society, creating new businesses and valorizing research at the university.

TU/e innovation Space is an important platform for assembling an inspiring community, from which new research collaborations, start-ups and industrial collaborations can emerge. In TU/e innovation Space, we are breaking boundaries by working together: innovation through collaboration.

As community manager of TU/e innovation Space, you will be part of the core team. This is a very dynamic team consisting of students and academic and supporting staff from the TU/e. Your role as community manager will involve to closely collaborate with the students community, the workgroups Business Collaboration and Education, and the communication department of the TU/e. In September 2017 TU/e innovation Space will initiate a pilot innovation Space (in the Gaslab building), where many of the assumptions will be tested, also in terms of community and communication. The community manager will have an important role in participating in the thinking and design of the community and communication strategy so that this is fully operational in September 2018, when TU/e innovation Space will move to the renewed Matrix building on the TU/e campus where it will operate full scale.
