Functieomschrijving

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences (IE & IS) has identified cross-disciplinary research themes that are both scientifically challenging and socially relevant. These themes were selected, involving the scientific staff of the entire department, building on the current strengths of research, and taking into account the possible synergies between all groups and the growth of funding. These four research themes are:

  • Logistics and its interfaces
  • Sustainability
  • Value of big data
  • Humans and Technology

These four research themes are aligned with the Strategic Areas of the TU/e and with two research centers via joint road mapping and subsidy applications. The themes are also aimed at multidisciplinary and cross department collaboration. In this way, they are also in line with the new cross-disciplinary research themes of the TU/e.

The Project Development Office (PDO), consisting of four project officers and one senior strategic advisor, facilitates the acquisition of externally funded research within the Department of IE&IS. The team supports the academic staff in obtaining funding for the realization of scientific ambitions. The PDO is the spider in the web of our activities with external partners.
