Project is a platform that encourages and rewards families and friends to stay active socially, mentally and physically in a personalized gaming experience. GameBus enables people to perform the activities they enjoy truly as an individual in such a way that they are part of an integrated social interaction.

The platform includes an API and apps for Android, iOS and web browsers. The technology was realized via investments of TU/e and EIT Digital and already in 2015 it was used by third party apps from Telecom Italy and other international players. Currently, the platform is further industrialized via new EIT funding which will make GameBus a key component in medical solutions as well. Furthermore, the core technology is being brought to the next level of gamification via research funding.

Job description

We have an open vacancy for a Senior Software Engineer. The position is at the intersection of software engineering and certification and relates to privacy and security.

You will be part of the core development team of, where your focus will be on privacy and security related tasks, such as:

  • Fine-tuning the GameBus OAuth layer for the fine-grained access control of a new B2B partner application;
  • Realization of more detailed configuration options for personal data management (e.g., w.r.t. data portability and anonymization based on GDPR articles 20 and 17);
  • Penetration testing and prioritized problem solving based on (but not restricted to) OWASP;
  • Fine-tuning of the web server logging, backup and failover infrastructure;
  • Updating of Terms of Use and Privacy Policy Documents;
  • Professional editing of
    • end-user documentation/clarification on/of the GameBus privacy and security measures;o pragmatic work instructions on key operational tasks on the infrastructure, in compliance with norms such as ISO 27001;
    • GDPR compliance report, also leveraging risk instruments such as 29134:2017;
  • End-to-end testing to ensure that increased security measures do not break functional requirements.


We are seeking for an expert in Java Spring (including its security extensions), Linux, Apache, database tuning, HTML5 and Javascript. Successful applicants will also demonstrate eagerness to present at (inter-)national conferences.

We offer

  • A fulltime temporary appointment for 1 year.
  • A gross monthly salary in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU), depending on experience and knowledge;
