Are you eager to contribute to more flexible and student led education? And do you have the ability and energy to act hands on in a project, but at the same time to connect the dots with external partners? Then we may be looking for you!

Eindhoven University of Technology has made an impressive educational transition aimed at training future engineers, through the implementation of the Bachelor College in 2012 and the Graduate School in 2013. Currently, TU/e is taking up the challenge to widen the audience by educating professionals in the field. This professional learning program is led by a taskforce, and several projects are part of this program. One of these projects is the Pilot Microcredentials. The microcredential is a reliable certificate with which professionals can demonstrate what they know, can and understand after successful completion of an education unit. In other words, the microcredential gives an independent value to a smaller education unit. A microcredential is not just about the end result. The whole process, including the learning activities and associated assessment of learning outcomes, adds value to a microcredential.

The aim of this nationwide pilot is to have a clear and recognizable value in the system for Life Long Learners, as is now also the case for bachelors, masters, associate degrees and PhDs. We as a university are one of the universities taking part in this project and with this, we are part of the national working group.

For this pilot, we are looking for a project coordinator for the duration of the project (2 years). As the project coordinator, you are the central point of contact within the university for the microcredentials. Your main task is to find out what working with microcredentials means for us as a university. Are microcredentials of added value and what is the impact on our organization?

As project coordinator, you will be part of the education team of innovation Space, and you will report to the program manager professional learning and the taskforce Professional education. For the execution of the project, you are the first contact for teachers, support staff with questions, and the linking pin to the national group working on this pilot.

To take on this challenging job the following characteristics apply to you:

  • You have a Bachelor Degree or higher
  • You are familiar with the world of higher education and (preferably) the processes within these institutes
  • You have a proven track-record and experience in project management
  • You combine a hands-on mindset with the flexibility to combine multiple project roles
  • You are an independent team player used to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • You have excellent communication skills (proficient in English and Dutch), analytical and organizational skills
  • You are well-organized, autonomous, flexible, service- and result oriented, deadline-driven
  • You are organization sensitive and understands the different cultures of the different partners and their stakeholders

TU/e innovation Space is the Center of expertise for Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) and student entrepreneurship at TU/e, a learning hub for innovation of education, and an open community where students, researchers, industry, and societal organizations can exchange knowledge and develop responsible solutions to real-world challenges. TU/e innovation Space has a growing impact on students, staff, and TU/e and a big ambition to increase this impact even further. The innovative way of learning is offered to more and more students through an increasing number of courses and extra-curricular activities, and evidence-based research yields first results. Also, the first pilots at the curriculum level are starting in close collaboration with Bachelor College and Graduate School.

Aim of the education team of TU/e innovation Space is to create structural change in education. This requires upscaling of initiatives and pilots to create a more flexible education system. TU/e innovation Space plays a central role in these developments, e.g. with the Comenius Leadership Fellow research project acquired in 2020. The team also starts new initiatives: innovation Space currently works on supporting entrepreneurial learning (with 4TU) and facilitating challenges with other universities (alliance with UU, UMC, and WUR). A next step is to develop challenges in which students at different levels (Bachelor, Master, PdEng) work together, including students from Fontys, Avans, and Summa. Furthermore, international collaborations in the Eurotech partnership are intensified.

  • A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university.
  • We offer a parttime (0.4fte) employment position and offer a temporary appointment for a period of two years based on available funding of the project, starting with contract for 1 year.
  • Depending on experience and education, the salary for a full-time contract ranges between €2.968,- and €4.078,- (scale 9) in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities.
  • Benefits (such as a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave) in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities.
  • Additionally, an annual holiday allowance of 8% of the yearly salary, plus a year-end allowance of 8.3% of the annual salary.
