Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) offers a research driven BME Bachelor program and Masters in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Engineering in its Graduate Program. Its research areas range from Molecular Bioengineering and Imaging, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering to Biomedical Imaging and Modelling. The department has more than 800 students and up to 200 tenured and non-tenured employees.

Institute for Complex Molecular Systems

The Institute for Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS) is an interdisciplinary institute at the TU/e which brings excellent researchers from different areas together to promote cross-breeding of ideas across disciplines in the departments Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering. The institute aims to create and study biologically relevant functional structures with the ultimate goal of understanding the complexity of life.

About MDR

The Research Center for Materials-Driven Regeneration (MDR) is a partnership between Eindhoven University of Technology, Maastricht University and Utrecht University, University Medical Center Utrecht and the Hubrecht Institute. This consortium brings together materials scientists, cell biologists, tissue engineers and medical scientists to jointly work on the regeneration of tissue and organ function with intelligent, life-like materials. The MDR Research Center was awarded an 18.8 M€ grant in May 2017 by the ministry of education, culture and science of The Netherlands in the framework of the Gravitation program. The MDR organization is designed to foster collaboration, to forge cross-disciplinary discoveries, and to train the next generation of leading regenerative medicine researchers.

To strengthen our multidisciplinary team in the collaborating institutes, we are looking for an enthusiastic and driven senior Program Manager who will support our researchers and leverage the MDR organization.

About the position

In this position as Program Manager Regenerative Medicine you are responsible for:

  • Supporting and strengthening the research organization and the consortium in the Netherlands and abroad;
  • Drafting project documentation (business plan, vision documents, progress reports, etc.);
  • Communicating and coordinating activities with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Organizing scientific and educational events and other activities with the aim of talent development
  • Developing the outreach and public relations strategy of the consortium, including maintenance of the MDR website;
  • Supporting the MDR management with the portfolio of research projects within the consortium;
  • Contributing to funding strategy of the consortium.


  • An academic degree, preferably at PhD level, in the area of Regenerative Medicine;
  • Track record in managing projects in a complex multidisciplinary research area;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Dutch and English language;
  • Very organization-sensitive and flexible attitude;
  • Result-driven, proactive and decisive attitude, enthusiastic team player;
  • Able to further develop and maintain external networks, including public relations.


We offer you:

  • A challenging job in a dynamic and ambitious program (1.0 fte or 0.8 fte) for a period of one year with a possibility for extension at proven competence;
  • Depending on relevant experience the gross salary will be minimum € 2.709,= and maximum € 4.978,= per month (scale 10 or 11 CAO-NU) according with the Collective Agreement for Dutch Universities;
  • Possibility to present your work at international conferences;
  • An attractive package of fringe benefits, including excellent work facilities, partially paid parental leave, commuting expenses, 41 days of holiday, extra holiday allowance 8% in May, end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December and excellent sports facilities. Depending on resume and work experience a contract via EuFlex (the TU/e secondment organization) can be considered.
