The service department Library and Information Services (LIS) is integral responsible for delivering support to the TU/e departments and other services. The service is subdivided in six Product Areas: Library and Open Science, Research, Education, Corporate, Data & Insights and Platforms. 

For the Product Area Education we are looking for a Product Owner (0,8 – 1,0 FTE) in the product team Assessment Support.

The Position 
As a Product Owner, you’ll be working in the SCRUM product team Assessment Support, under the responsibility of the Product Area Education within the department of Library and Information Services, LIS. Within this product team, you will be working with various disciplines according to the agile SCRUM method and will be focusing on assessment IT support and innovation. You will not only be working closely together within the product team Assessment Support but also with other product teams within the field of education, project management, educationalists, architecture, privacy and security and of course business representatives from faculties and departments.

You are the representative of the team and product and you translate goals and objectives into work activities. Therefore you build and maintain relationships with the key stakeholders and use their input to create roadmaps to deliver value over time. You will prioritize the backlog of the team from a business perspective and streamline execution while maintaining the (technical) integrity of the functions and components. 

Besides the team, you will work in close cooperation with the Product area lead Education and the Competence manager. 

Job description

  • Own, build, prioritize, decide and refine the user stories in the team; 
  • Make sure there is a clear vision and a product roadmap that is well-aligned within the team and with all relevant stakeholders;  
  • Review and reprioritize the backlog and coordinate with other product owners around collaboration opportunities and dependencies; 
  • You are responsible for the tactical development and product quality for digital assessment within TU/e;  
  • Constantly gain understanding of the assessment needs within the TU/e to make well-considered decisions about priorities and scope of work;  
  • Be the primary communicator and link between stakeholders and the product team; 
  • You are budget holder for the digital assessment support team and roadmap; 
  • You are responsible for defining the scope of activities for the team;  
  • Validate user stories so they meet the acceptance criteria and definition of done; 
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, refinement sessions, planning, reviews and retrospectives;
  • Keep yourself up to date with the digital assessment landscape and stay networked among peers.

Functie-eisen

  • You have at least HBO / University work and thinking level, in the direction of ICT, computer science or comparable; 
  • High level of organizational sensitivity and you easily navigate a complex working environment in which you can be a sparring partner to people on different levels in the organization;
  • You have experience working in an agile/scrum environment;
  • You have experience as a Product owner (or comparable role) and show agile leadership;
  • You effectively translate user/business needs into backlog items and/or requirements for the team; 
  • Ability to produce results for the business through a combination of strong interpersonal and technical skills; 
  • Communicative and collaboration oriented and an excellent navigator in conflicts of interest and aiding the team in having the right focus; 
  • Strong and convincing Dutch and English communication skills; 
  • Clearly communicate the targets that are required to let the product team succeed; 
  • Knowledge and experience within the field of academic education and more specifically digital assessment is a big plus.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

An exciting position within an international yet personal university. You are right in the middle of the students, on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. We also offer you:

  • A monthly salary of minimum € 4.332,- to maximum € 5.929,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (salary scale 11 collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities).
  • In addition to vacation pay (8%), also a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3% (13th month).
  • A favorable arrangement for more holidays or a sabbatical. Entitled to 41 holidays days annually when working 40 hours a week.
