Advanced Research Center Chemical Building Blocks Consortium (ARC CBBC) is the Dutch national research center for major, complex societal challenges related to chemistry and energy. ARC CBBC is a public-private alliance in which universities, industries and governmental organisations cooperate carrying out multidisciplinary research. The fundamental research spans the breadth of the chemical sector and relies on the involvement of the co-founding companies: the industrial partners AkzoNobel, BASF and Shell. ARC CBBC focuses on the science and technology breakthroughs needed to synthesize both new and existing chemical building blocks divided on three themes: Energy carriers, Functional materials & specialties, and Coatings.
The following bilateral research project between AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals and the Eindhoven University of Technology has been defined within the ARC CBBC consortium:
Development of new catalytic technologies for industrial waste water treatment

With growing environmental awareness and water becoming a scarce resource in certain parts of the world, the demand for water treatment will considerably grow in the future. The treatment of waste water effluents containing biological treatment resistant chemicals (e.g. aromatic compounds, pharmaceuticals etc.) is a very important topic for the chemical industry. The researchers in this project will develop new catalytic approaches to waste water treatment, thus reducing the environmental burden of chemical processes.

 

Functie-eisen

We are looking for an experienced candidate with a PhD degree in Heterogeneous Catalysis or equivalent. The prospective researcher is expected to have experience in applied heterogeneous catalysis and a good command of the English language.
The ideal candidate has good scientific skills as well as excellent soft skills related to verbal and written communication.

 

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

We offer a challenging job for two years in a highly motivated team at a dynamic and ambitious University. The TU/e is located in one of the smartest regions of the world and part of the European technology hotspot ‘Brainport Eindhoven’; well-known because of many high-tech industries and start-ups. The gross monthly salary in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU), starts with € 3.173,-
