Education and Student Affairs
The Education and Student Affairs (ESA) service aims to provide excellent services to teachers, students and administrators. ESA is the central service point for teachers and (prospective) students at Eindhoven University of Technology and provides services in the field of educational support, educational logistics, study skills, career guidance, use of ICT resources in education, professional skills and language education. In addition, ESA supports the Executive Board, the Deans of the Bachelor College and the Graduate School, as well as the faculties in the fields of education policy, legislation and regulations, quality assurance, training and institutional accreditation, educational innovation and internationalization. ESA has divided this support into four departments, namely the Central Student Administration (CSA), Teacher Support and Quality Assurance (TS&QA), Policy Advice and Projects (PA&P) and Student Facilities (SF).
Policy Advice and Projects
The Policy officer / coordinator international projects will work for the Policy, Advice & Projects (PA&P) department. This department is primarily responsible for drawing up tactical and operational education policy and regulations, internationalization policy and the generation and interpretation of administrative information within the education domain. Experience and knowledge will be exchanged and collaborated within the policy chain that TU/e has set up in a broad sense. In addition, the department manages projects related to or resulting from education policy and its implementation and evaluation.
Our university is a partner in an alliance of leading European universities of science and technology that stated an international study program to jointly shape the engineering education of the future.
The EuroTeQ initiative emerges from the EuroTech Universities Alliance, a strategic partnership of Technical University of Denmark (DTU), École Polytechnique (L'X), Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Technical University of Munich (TUM) as well as Ecole Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. For this project, Eurotech has brought two other strong partners on board: Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) and Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU, please see euroteq.eu).
As policy officer / coordinator international projects you will be joining the team within PA&P focusing on internationalization and work together with colleagues within PA&P and other departments of ESA, but also with colleagues from General Affairs, who are involved in of the EuroTeQ project.
This position is available on a temporary basis (max 3 years) because of the funding for the EuroTeQproject
The goal of the overall project is built a virtual campus for six European technical universities. Help to develop an international classroom as a concept at these universities. Boost an entrepreneurial spirit among students and faculty staff, increase the mobility of students between these universities, and work on a system of micro-credentialing. Bear in mind that the outcomes of these targets ideally will be useful to a lot of other European Universities.
The contribution from our department for this project focusses mainly on
- Arranging the recognition of credits (regulations) for partner universities within curriculum or as honors/certificate
-Defining (together with colleagues at other department of the university) the principles of (international) learning outcomes" with the purpose of an international classroom.
- Increasing the mobility of students (and teachers) between EuroTeQ partners.
-Developing individual learning paths: e.g. working on micro-credentials from different courses and how to define them (+ communication, regulation, certification/recognition). The same goes for certificates, professional and honors for EuroTeQ. This also means putting together packages together with the courses within the university and partners that can be used for this purpose and included in the course catalogue.
Our new colleague will contribute to EuroTeQ and contribute to other tasks within the department like:
- policy support double degree education programs
- policy and project support on internationalization files
- policy support double doctorates / joint supervision PhD programs
- organization of student challenges
- policy support for International networks TU/e is active in
- policy support scholarships
- incoming and outgoing visits
We are looking for a colleague with:
-academic work and thinking level
-experience in higher education (preferably in a STEM environment)
-good English skills (at least C1)
-international affinity and experience, preferably in higher education
-result oriented mentality, open, flexible, service oriented and a team player
-(affinity with) didactic skills
We are offering a 0.6 FTE appointment for one year, with the option to be extended for 2 years. Depending on experience and education, the salary for a full-time contract ranges between € 2790 - €4402 gross per month (salary scale 10 CAO Dutch Universities). The TU/e offers a broad package of fringe benefits, for instance a year-end bonus of 8.3%, holiday allowance of 8% and excellent sport facilities.
We are offering a temporary appointment for a period of one year. The employment contract may be extended in the event of good performance and if the financial conditions remain the same for two years. The appointment may be via EUFLEX (TU/e secondment agency).
