Data management / governance consultant  
Would you like to contribute to ground-breaking innovations and developments in technology and science? Are you ambitious, passionate about data-driven work and data management, do you like having freedom in your work and do you prefer to work together with others in an international and interdisciplinary environment? 

The Product Area Data & Insights is looking for a data management/governance consultant. This Product Area within the Library and Information Services department enables a safe and reliable data driven organization. As data management consultant you are an important part of this team. You give strategic advice across disciplines and multiple levels of the university regarding data management. You do this with your colleagues from team data management, privacy, security, BI and archive.  
 

What will you do as a data management consultant? 
The data management consultant works within the product area Data & Insights, together with other data management consultants. They combine knowledge of data management, privacy and security with knowledge of business processes, data and applications. You work on improving the quality of data and solving data issues. You do so by contributing to the development of TU/e data management strategy, policies, procedures and standards in terms of Data Management and Governance. You give advice and support regarding data management across all TU/e service departments and faculties. 

The data management consultant we are looking for can (pro)actively put him/herself in the shoes of a customer (‘understanding the question or issue’). This, through a good substantive knowledge of the data domains. You are also able to translate a customer’s wish or issue into clear solutions and definitions. This requires organization sensitivity, political relations and good communication skills.  

You like to collaborate with a wide range of people, have excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English and you are solution oriented. You feel at home in a dynamic, innovative environment that is developing rapidly. You have a clear view on the added value of Data Management for TU/e and are eager to share your vision and knowledge with others involved in the field, such as Data Domain Owners and Data Domain Coordinators who are engaged in domain-specific data management activities.  

Functie-eisen

You are a good match for our Data Management team when you have: 

  • At least a completed HBO education or have a comparable work and thinking level; 
  • At least three years of verifiable experience in Data Management and at least two of the following disciplines; data architecture, data governance, data quality, master data management, data privacy, data modeling or metadata; 
  • Sound knowledge of DAMA DMBOK and metadata management in particular; 
  • An advantage if you have knowledge of and experience with data management tooling 
  • basic experience and knowledge of privacy and security. 
  • Have knowledge of and experience with Agile Scrum; 
  • Good communication and social skills; 
  • Sense of interpersonal relationships within the organization; 
  • Have affinity with organizations in higher education and research.

LIS consists of about 250 employees and supports both scientific departments and service departments in their innovation. 

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

The Technical University offers initially a contract for 1 year, with the intention of converting the contract for an indefinite period. This is a full-time position (32-36 hours per week). In addition to a package of excellent primary (maximum € 5.929, -- gross per month) and benefits. You will have the space to work and grow within a professional department. 

  • A team in which professionalism in learning and development is key; 
  • The salary is in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities and depending on education and work experience. For this position, we are open to interview medior as well as senior candidates. This function corresponds with scale 10 (medior candidates) or 11 (senior candidates) with a respective maximum of €5.090 or €5.929 (CAO-NU); 
  • Additionally, an annual holiday allowance of 8% of the yearly salary, plus a year-end allowance of 8.3% of the annual salary;
