Department of Electrical Engineering
With almost 100 (assistant, associate and full) professors, over 200 PhD and PDEng students, about 800 Bachelor students and 300 Master students, the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) is one of the largest departments of the TU/e. By performing top-level fundamental and applied research, offering high-quality educational programs, and maintaining strong ties with industry, EE aims to contribute to science and to innovation in and beyond the region. Assistant Professor in “Sensor Systems – Processing, Control and Design”
Fueled by rapid cost decreases and functionality increases, sensors are rapidly pervading our society to permit truly intelligent systems (e.g. fully autonomous vehicles). To support this sensorization trend, we want to reinforce our fundamental expertise to derive meaningful and reliable information with low latency and computational effort from a large collection of multivariate and sometimes unreliable sensors, with a focus on novel sensors under study in our own department (e.g. optical, capacitive, THz). This will build upon combined expertise in sensor physics, signal processing/control and machine learning, supplemented by knowledge of key application domains.
What we are looking for
We seek to appoint academic staff in the three focus areas who are passionate about research as well as teaching. We welcome excellent candidates that can contribute to any of our current areas as well as candidates that bring new research directions to the department. We have openings at all levels, ranging from tenure track assistant professor positions, to associate and full professor positions. The working language in the department and across the university is English. There is no requirement to speak Dutch for applying for these positions.
An important aspect of TU/e’s vision on education is that research and education go hand in hand, both at Bachelor and Master level. Next to your research, education is an important part of your job. Salary will be based on your background and working experience and according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (CAO NU). An Assistant Professor gross salary is in the range of € 3,637 to € 5,656 per month (on a full-time basis).
Furthermore, we offer a holiday allowance of 8% of the yearly salary and a end of the year allowance of 8.3% of the yearly salary. In addition we offer a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions, the possibility to participate in a collective health care plan, and other benefits (including an excellent technical infrastructure, moving expenses, savings schemes and excellent on campus children day care and sports facilities).
