Would you love the opportunity to contribute to scientific innovations and break-throughs, especially for grid-related power electronics and renewable energy applications? As a newly appointed faculty member, you will be working in the Power Electronics Laboratory Eindhoven, which is a division of the Electromechanics and Power Electronics group of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Both your research quality and your educational skills are very important. You will develop and teach Power Electronics courses at both undergraduate and graduate level
The position is open immediately, but the start date is flexible.
TU/e research towards 2030
TU/e is a highly ranked university in both research and teaching. Fundamental and application-inspired research are equally valued. TU/e is often ranked exceptionally high based on scientific co-publications with industry and the impact of its scientific research.
TU/e has identified Complex ‘High Tech Systems’ and ‘Renewable Energy’ as two of the key multi-disciplinary research opportunities in the taskforce TU/e 2030. Power Electronics plays an enabling role in these domains. Various research groups at Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, and other departments of TU/e have been active and visible within these areas and their applications. There is an ongoing initiative, both at the university level and the department level, to strengthen the research and education in these directions
Job description
We are looking for top candidates in Power Electronics who are interested in contributing to scientific innovations and break-throughs, especially for grid-related power electronics and renewable energy applications, as well as contributing to our educational portfolio. The new Assistant Professor will join the Electromechanics and Power Electronics group and collaborate intensively with its other members, where (s)he will participate in mixed academic/industrial research activity. From the candidate, we expect a research potential that will enable the group to develop and sustain an internally and externally funded research program. You are expected to publish your research findings in refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth of Eindhoven University of Technology. Additionally, candidates are expected to contribute to our teaching excellence and student advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In this respect you will develop and teach Power Electronics-related courses.
Electromechanics and Power Electronics group (EPE)
The research in Power Electronics that is carried out in the group is challenging, with subjects that include for example, high-precision and high performance power converters, drive and grid applications, advanced modelling and control of power electronics, automotive-related power conversion, and medium voltage power electronics. The capacity group currently consists of 2 professors (1 appointed per 2021), 1 associate professor, 7 assistant professors, 2 postdoctoral researchers, 17 PhD students, 4 PDEng students and 3 technicians. The EPE group has a strong connection with local industry, which is underlined by the presence of 18 part-time professors from industry. The group has one of the most advanced electro-mechanic and power electronics laboratories in the Netherlands (680+ m2 floor space) and contains state of the art facilities for testing and validation of electro-mechanical and power electronic systems. Besides the research laboratory, the group also has a dedicated educational laboratory at its disposal.
