You will be a member of the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship & Marketing (ITEM) group. The ITEM group currently entails 23 faculty members. In addition, a group of 20 PhD students is affiliated with this group. ITEM’s research program focuses on understanding and improving new business development (NBD) and new product development (NPD) processes within firms, organizations, and institutions in a high-tech context. With the onset of open innovation and the rise of increasingly complex innovation ecosystems, new business and product development is no longer the exclusive playground of single firms. Instead, collaboration with external parties is required to accelerate innovation processes and successfully launch new products to keep pace with competitors. Moreover, marketing, service, and sales play an important role in the process of developing and adopting new products.
The ITEM group currently has an opening for a tenure-track assistant professor who wants to contribute to its research program and teach at both the graduate and undergraduate level. As a successful candidate, you will be involved in conducting top-level academic research to be published in high-quality scholarly journals. We are specifically looking for a colleague with proficiency in quantitative methods. Depending on your background, you will be involved in lecturing courses on product innovation and/or product marketing as well as supervising bachelor and master thesis students. In addition, you are expected to acquire external research funding (e.g., industry, NWO, EU) and be active and visible in international academic networks. The TU/e is situated in one of the leading high-tech regions of the world, which provides ample opportunities for excellent researchers in the field of innovation seeking to make a societal as well as academic impact.
The ITEM group is part of the School of Industrial Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology. The School of Industrial Engineering is one of the longest-established engineering schools in Europe. It has a strong presence in the international research and education community, especially in the innovation management, technology entrepreneurship & marketing domains, which are also at the core of the undergraduate and graduate programs, attracting top-level students from all over the world.
