The General Affairs service is headed by the Secretary of the University and consists of the Executive Board Staff, the Executive Board Secretariat, and a number of units that are directly under the responsibility of the Executive Board, such as Operational Audit, Studium Generale and the Sports Center.

The Executive Board Staff is responsible for supporting strategy and policy at the institutional level. This is organized in the thematic clusters Education and Research. In the Strategy 2030, the TU/e aims to develop international leadership in select cross-disciplinary research themes and to connect with partners in academic, industrial and triple-helix partnerships.

In the role of policy advisor international research policy you are part of the compact Research Cluster within the General Affairs service (4 FTE) and you work closely with your colleagues within the team, the President of the Executive Board and with colleagues throughout the university. You also have regular contact with colleagues of other support services and you participate in university meetings on relevant research topics.

Job description:

  • Supporting the university board, researchers and management in shaping the international profile of the university and international research collaborations;
  • The development and implementation of policy on topics such as European research policy and international strategic partnerships such as the EuroTech Universities Alliance;
  • Contribute to promoting the quality and impact of the research and its visibility;


  • You preferably have a Master's degree in a science or engineering discipline;
  • You have experience in conducting scientific research (e.g. as a PhD) and as such, you know how science works and what motivates scientists;
  • You have several years of experience in internationalization of research and develop of partnerships in a higher education environment;
  • You have a relevant network;
  • You have excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English (and preferably also in Dutch);
  • You function well in a complex organization;
  • You work independently and result-oriented.


We offer a fulltime (1,0 fte) employment position with a gross month salary in the range of € 4.538,-  and € 5.826,- (scale 12) based on your education and experience. An appointment of 0,8 fte is also possible. Besides that, we offer an annual holiday allowance of 8%, an annual end of the year bonus of 8,3%, a total of 41 days of paid holiday leave and a broad package of fringe benefits (including an excellent technical infrastructure, savings schemes, child care and excellent sports facilities).
