Job description

Short description

Are you interested in joining our group for a time period of up to a year? Do you want to develop joint research with members of our group in the area of business process management, business intelligence, or business engineering? Are you open to contributing to teaching courses in our group and share your own teaching experience to develop new assignment-driven course components? Then join us as a visiting lecturer/researcher by responding to the vacancy below.

Job description

As a visiting lecturer/researcher you will continue to do your own research, but you will also join the colloquia and research meetings that are organized by the information systems group and the university as a whole to learn about the research that others are working on. You will develop collaborations with researchers in the Information Systems group that lead to joint research publications and possibly joint project proposals or other research output.

You will spend around 50% of your time contributing to courses in the Bachelor and Master Programmes of the School of Industrial Engineering and/or supervising Bachelor students for their final project. As part of your teaching duties, you will be involved in setting up assignment-driven course components in existing courses. The specific courses that you will be involved in will depend on your own knowledge and expertise.

You will be embedded in the Information Systems group in the department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences. In that way you will, of course, directly collaborate with experts in areas such as business intelligence, business process intelligence, business process engineering, or business model and service systems engineering for digital services, but also with people from other disciplines in the department and the university as a whole. You will also benefit from our extensive international network of partner universities, research groups, and company contacts, with whom you will engage in joint research.

Job requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field, such as computer systems, information systems or a comparable domain.
  • Ability to conduct high quality academic research, demonstrated for instance by a relevant PhD thesis and/or publication(s).
  • Ability to teach, shown by experience or assistance in teaching and positive evaluations of these teaching efforts.
  • Committed to teaching 50% of the time of the visit.
  • Creative and dedicated to (multidisciplinary) collaboration.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Excellent proficiency (written and oral) in English.

Conditions of employment

  • A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university.
  • A full-time employment for one year. Alternatively: If you want to join the group as part of a sabbatical and prefer to be compensated in the form of travel and living expenses that is also possible.
  • Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities and depend on your background and experience.
  • You will have free access to high-quality training programs on general skills, didactics and topics related to research and valorization.
  • Additionally, an annual holiday allowance of 8% of the yearly salary, plus a year-end allowance of 8.3% of the annual salary.
  • A broad package of fringe benefits, including an excellent technical infrastructure, moving expenses, on-campus children day care and sports facilities.
