To expand the team of lab support at the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences we are looking for research support technician. Researchers in the Humans & Technology (H&T) research theme in this department perform high-quality multidisciplinary scientific research at the intersection of humans and technology, and translate fundamental research insights into viable applications, services, and policies.

Now our themed labs are connected to the topics of Psychology, Robotics, Game, Virtual Reality and Lighting. In the position of research support technician, you will enable scientists and students in performing experiments in the Humans & Technology (H&T) labs, assisting with the experiment setup, and providing documentation/instructions on the use of various equipment and facilities.

Alongside keeping the labs and equipment maintained by updating software/hardware where needed.

Assisting in the realization of laboratory setups:

  • You provide hands-on assistance with the construction of laboratory setups.
  • You maintain contacts with facility services and companies that are involved in the realization of setups.
  • You provide support when challenges rise during experiments

Managing equipment and access passes

  • You take care of the maintenance of equipment.
  • You manage the lending system.
  • You will instruct students and staff on how to use the equipment.
  • You manage the access passes for the labs.

Inventory management and orders

  • You manage the stock of consumables.
  • You prepare orders for equipment.
  • You place orders for equipment and materials.

Software licenses, updates and upgrades

  • You manage software licenses of lab applications.
  • You regularly perform system updates on the lab PCs.

Functional management of online research tools

  • You manage the user accounts for online research tools.

Job requirements

We are looking for a new colleague who

  • has at least a completed (preferably a technical) MBO education.
  • is handy and has sufficient technical insight.
  • has a strong communicative personality and enjoys speaking to colleagues and students.
  • is broadly oriented and likes to work in a dynamic environment.
  • has an affinity with working with computers.
  • has a good command of the English (oral and written).
