The Membrane Materials and Process group of the Eindhoven University of Technology conducts research into polymer membrane synthesis, development, preparation and characterization and application of membranes in the field of water treatment, energy production and storage and food processing. The research is carried out in close collaboration with industry and is driven by the social need for more circularity and sustainability. To strengthen our team we are looking for a research technician with a hands-on mentality and a strong service orientation.

As a technician, your major task is to perform research either confidential contract research directly with the industry or to support scientists and PhD-students in their research. You perform experiments in the field of making, characterizing and applying polymer membranes. You analyze and interpret results and support the scientific staff of the Membrane Materials and Processes group in answering scientific problems.  Based on your expertise, you come with ideas on how specific equipment can be used to solve research questions. This concerns the use of existing methods and techniques and equipment, but also methods and setups to be developed or designed. In addition, together with another technician in our group, you are responsible for the organization, management and maintenance of the research group's laboratories and equipment. You also instruct new employees with regard to safety, working in the lab, equipment, etc., you can construct small setups and you have knowledge of and affinity with ICT/LabVIEW/electronics. You also take care of ordering chemicals and lab necessities.

We expect you to be able to function independently and proactively as a technician and research assistant for the purpose of the research. The English language is the official language.

Job requirements

From our future colleague we expect:

  • You have a completed education at HBO level in the direction of chemical technology/polymer chemistry and an affinity for physical chemical techniques and applications;
  • You have at least several years of relevant work experience;
  • You are able to work independently and in a team and have excellent communications skills;
  • You have a good command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing;
  • You are customer oriented and have a flexible attitude, are a team player, analytical, creative, proactive and solution-oriented;
  • Having experience in the field of membrane technology is a plus.

  • A salary is offered between € 2.700.- and 4.078,- gross per month (based on 1.0 fte),   depending on knowledge and experience (based on salary scale 8 or 9, CAO of Dutch Universities);
