We have an opening for a 'Product Owner Campus, Facility and Service Management' in the service department Library and Information Services (LIS). This service is responsible for the entire demand - supply chain in the fields of information management, IT and library services. The service department is transforming into a product-oriented structure, with empowered product teams responsible for professional service provision and further development of their product. In consultation with stakeholders, requirements are collected, prioritized and aligned. Part of the transformation is the introduction of Agile working methods. The service department consists of six Product Areas: Library and Open Science, Research, Education, Corporate, Data & Insights and Platforms.

Job description

The Product Area Corporate contributes to efficiency and effectiveness of business operations by offering intelligent solutions and integrated standard platforms. We focus on optimized end-to-end processes, scalable architecture and reusability. We also provide customer-friendly and professional support and logistics services. Our services are targeted at all employees and students of the TU/e.

Within the Product Area Corporate, the team Campus, Facility and Service Management is end-to-end responsible for the maintenance and further development of platforms and systems facilitating residents and visitors of the TU/e campus. The product portfolio includes the Service Management platform (TOPdesk), the Facility Management Information System (Planon), and the Card Management System.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Owner to join our Campus, Facility, and Service Management Team. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing the product roadmap, defining and prioritizing features, and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.

You will work in close cooperation with the Product Area Lead Corporate, the Competence Manager, the stakeholders in the business and other Product Owners within Library and Information Services.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure strategic alignment of the product team by defining and continuously refining the product; vision, goals and roadmap;
  • Understand stakeholder needs and translate them into product backlog items;
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog to ensure alignment with stakeholder needs and strategic goals;
  • Act as an ambassador for the services and as the primary contact for queries related to the services;
  • Protect the long term (technical and/or domain) integrity of the product and ensuring that the quality is sufficient;
  • Represent the interests of the teams in quarterly planning and PO sync sessions;
  • Participate in stand-ups, review and retrospective events;
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and share knowledge and best practices with the team.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science or related field;
  • At least a few years of experience as a Product Owner, preferably of a product team responsible for campus management, facility management or service management;
  • Experience in acting as a primary contact person towards the team, showing Agile leadership (act as a role model) and the ability to successfully interact with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels in the organization;
  • Professional Scrum Product Owner I certification or higher;
  • Knowledge of facility management and/or service management platforms, such as Planon, TOPdesk, ServiceNow or similar is a plus;
  • Strong written and oral communication in both Dutch and English;
  • Flexible, dynamic and experience in an Agile/DevOps environment;
  • Experience in a Higher Education organization is a plus.

  • A monthly salary to a maximum of € 5.439,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (salary scale 11 collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities).
