In the Department of the Built Environment there is a position available for a lecturer in the unit Urban Systems and Real Estate. The Department offers a comprehensive, research-oriented Master of Science (MSc.) degree program within the broad field of the Built Environment. Graduates go on to work in diverse professional areas, such as architecture, urban design and planning, real estate management, building physics, installation techniques, construction and building production.
The department is also a research institute comprising various laboratories and four research programs in which high-level research is conducted. The strategic research agenda of the USRE unit focuses on the major challenges cities are facing to create healthy, sustainable, and smart urban environments, with important roles assigned to AI and digital tools as enablers. The program of USRE is closely connected and contributes to the EIRES and EASI institutes of the TU/e as well as the department’s own Urban Development Initiative.
The USRE unit is responsible for education in the bachelor and master program of the department in the areas of urban planning and transportation, real estate management and development, and information systems in the built environment. The unit also contributes to the 4TU master program Construction Management and Engineering and TU/e master program AI and Engineering Systems.
The department is looking for a full-time lecturer who, as member of the USRE unit, will be involved in the education part of USRE in the Bachelor program of the department. The candidate will be responsible for teaching courses and tutoring students in challenge-based learning projects on smart city development covering the areas of urban planning and real estate management. The candidate should be able to implement our mission to educate students in developing an academic attitude and research-oriented approach to address planning and management decision problems in shaping cities of the future.
