Job description

Company profile and domain background

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is one of Europe’s top technological universities, situated at the heart of a most innovative high-tech region. The Photonic Integration (PhI) group performs leading edge research into indium phosphide semiconductor based technology for photonic integration and its applications and acts as a coordinator in JePPIX – European platform for photonic integration, a vibrant global ecosystem of designers and suppliers.

Together with University of Twente, TNO and PhotonDelta, TU/e has founded the Photonic Integration Technology Center (PITC), a center of excellence that underpins the ambition to strengthen the emerging integrated photonics technologies and ecosystem around those. The PITC works tightly together with universities as well as industry and bridges the gap by performing applied research and development activities. Our work is characterized by the combination of academic excellence and industry relevance, providing a strong real-world impact.

Photonics is widely regarded as the key enabling technology of the 21st century. Its application and use in many scientific and industrial fields is accelerated though Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) that will revolutionize various application areas such as healthcare, communication, quantum and sensing. Integrated photonics has the potential to be a disruptive response to solving big societal challenges of today and tomorrow. In recent years, production of PICs has reached a level of maturity requiring automated management of processes during design, fabrication and testing.

As a result of such growth, TU/e-based PIC research and development is now supported by a vast digital infrastructure. This digital platform enables photonic project execution with transparent workflows, data sharing, validation, and exchange. It is a multi-party workspace for researchers, foundries, designers, test facilities and PIC-based product developers. The mission is to align the supply chain and enable a seamless execution of the chip design, fabrication, and testing for the best user experience.

Job description

JePPIX is the joint European platform for photonic integrated components and circuits.
A key part of its mission is to make technology accessible to a wide variety of inventors, innovators and developers. JePPIX partners and members of the wider community include technologists, business developers, software engineers and designers.

In this role you will be coordinating the open-access platform for photonic chip manufacturing. The digital platform is its beating heart enabling efficient multi-stakeholder collaboration and making the technology accessible to designers from all over the world.

You will work closely with:
Customers. You will guide customers through the portfolio of photonic services and help them to build their supply chain for prototyping and manufacturing. You will collect and analyse customer feedback and translate it into improvement actions.

Suppliers. You will facilitate the onboarding of existing and new suppliers and constantly collect their feedback on further improvements and/or new functionality of the digital platform. You will streamline operational procedures to align and integrate with the internal processes of our suppliers.

Software Engineers. Your knowledge of customer and supplier user experience is essential to help our team of software engineers to make the digital platform truly user friendly.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure seamless transition to the digital operations.
    - Integrate existing and new supplier services and products in the digital platform.
    - Supervise customer development projects in the digital platform.
  • Establish and build strong working relationships with customers and business leaders at all levels.
  • Acting as a liaison between external and internal stakeholders to convey information, ensure understanding, and make certain everything gets done in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Manage day-to-day customer and supplier communication and ensure their demands are met with a focus on improving the customer experience.
  • Providing progress reports to the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
