The General Affairs service is headed by the Secretary of the University and consists of the Board Staff, the Board Secretariat, and a number of units that are directly under the responsibility of the Executive Board, such as Operational Audit, Studium Generale and the Sports Center.

As a board secretary you have a central function, both in the internal team coordination and in the preparation of decision-making on governance level. You coordinate a diversity of activities, including the alignment with the University Council. It is important that you keep a good overview and look ahead. You support the Secretary of the University in policy and administrative decision-making and thus form an integral part of the Board Staff. You collaborate closely with the other board secretary and secretary general.

You ensure the streamlining of decision making and are able to showcase the developments inside and outside the organization. You are mandated to set out activities / actions in the organization and to ensure that the correct end results are delivered on time.

Job requirements

  • You  have a Master's degree;
  • You have experience with support or advice at governance level, preferably in a higher education environment;
  • You have knowledge of strategy development on an organizational level;
  • You are familiar with employees’ rights of participation in decision-making processes;
  • You have excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and  in Dutch;
  • You have strong analytical skills and are able to convince people;
  • You are result oriented and have a great sense of responsibility;
  • You are a team player
  • You have a strong sense of organizational sensitivity
  • You are able to cope with stress and create and maintain an overview and monitor progress.

Conditions of employment

We offer a fulltime (1,0 fte) employment  position with a gross month salary in the range of  € 4.406,-  and € 5.656,- (scale 12) based on your education and experience. An appointment of 0,8 fte is also possible. Besides that, we offer an annual holiday allowance of 8%, an annual end of the year bonus of 8,3%, a total of 41 days of paid holiday leave and a broad package of fringe benefits (including an excellent technical infrastructure, savings schemes, child care and excellent sports facilities).
